Description
This footage from a Humanities Salon program features folklorist and fiddler Alan Jabbour discussing his globetrotting adventures recording fiddle music from traditional practitioners of the art. Jabbour's primary focus is Appalachia and the old American frontier. Jabbour is not only an expert in the field of ethno-musicology and a former Director of the Library of Congress Center for American Folklife, but he is also an accomplished violinist. Jabbour demonstrates many of the fiddle tunes he discusses in the program.
The program was held at a Barnes and Noble bookstore in Rockville on June 21st, 2001.
