Description
Rosie the Riveter epitomizes public view on women's role during World War II, often overlooking the story of women in intelligence and government positions. Government Girls of WWII sheds new light on women and World War II by showcasing female cryptologists, federal officials, and OSS agents. Through interviews, historical footage, and photographs, Government Girls records the story of the young women who flocked to Washington, D.C. during the 1940s to help in the mobilization for the war and how their experience during the war years changed their lives, the city and American society.
