Description
Miriam Rivkin was a Women's Auxiliary Air Corps recruit in 1943. Rivkin was born on July 22, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and served in the military for two years where she worked as a photographer in India.
This cartoon drawn by Rivkin depicts a young soldier having difficulty putting together an outfit for a date. Rivkin noted that mosquito control and a limited clothing selection made it difficult to choose an attractive outfit for recreation.
During her time in India, Rivkin lived in a large room with glass ceilings with 100 other women in a converted jute mill.
