Description

Miriam Rivkin was a Women's Auxiliary Air Corps recruit in 1943. Rivkin was born on July 22, 1922 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and served in the military for two years where she worked as a photographer in India.

This ink sketch by Rivkin depicts a soldier washing up from her helmet. Rivkin noted that sometimes she and her fellow soldiers had to do this when the water was either off or contaminated. The drawing also shows an ironic letter home in which the soldier assures her mother that she "Just took a war bath and feel[s] swell."
