People-to-People (Organization). Citizen Ambassador Program
Description
In the spring of 1991, Steven Hollimon was selected to be a US Student Ambassador of Goodwill to travel abroad to the Soviet Union for three weeks. During his tour, he was able to experience a family stay and a culture he had only read about in school textbooks. The US students were encouraged to exchange tokens of goodwill with the students they visited. They took hard candy and gum in exchange for gifts of lapel pins from the different cities on his trip. Thanks to Pastor Russell’s leadership, Steven was given a "love offering" from the church to help cover the cost of the trip.
