Ribbon-Cut Fabric from the Opening of the Matthews Memorial Terrace, 2012
This red grosgrain 3” wide ribbon with handmade bows was used in the opening ceremony for the Matthews Memorial Terrace apartment building, a 99 unit housing complex located on Martin Luther King, Jr., Avenue, S.E., Washington, DC. The opening, held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, was attended by city officials, community members, church officials and members, and future residents of the apartment complex. One-third of the new apartment residences were designated for senior citizens. A long-term vision of the late Pastor Wendell P. Russell, Sr., the facility was brought to fruition under the pastorate of Bishop C. Matthew Hudson, Jr., and the city of Washington, DC working together with other corporate partners.
