Description

The Hillcrest Community Civic Association initiated this oral history project to answer the question, "What makes a strong DC community?" Narrators were asked if Hillcrest exhibits the characteristics of a strong community and what they believe the role of the HCCA should be.

The Logans were present at the first meeting of the HCCA, and retain several artifacts from the early years of the organization. They hold the original sign in sheet from that first meeting, and a handbook for neighborhood watch block captains. The discuss a few of the programs and regular events that exemplify Hillcrest's strength as a community including the partnership between Hillcrest and Palisades in Northwest DC, and the Annual Night Out Against Crime.
