Subject
History
Description
This oral history project documents women who have made significant contributions to film in Washington, DC during the period between 1980 and 2010.
After studying theater at Smith College, and attempting to break into acting in New York City, Phylis Geller found herself working as a secretary at a local PBS station. She was eventually promoted to a producing position, in part through the efforts of the women's group that she helped to found. After a long career producing documentary, made-for-tv dramas for PBS, Geller started her own independent production company in Washington, DC. She has been an active member of Women in Film and Video in both Los Angeles and Washington.
